Since 2012, the Rumah Energi Foundation has been mandated to continue IDBP / BIRU, to ensure local ownership of the project and the continued development of the biogas sector in Indonesia. Lampung in South Sumatra is the only province in Sumatra that is reached by IDBP which has promising agricultural prospects. 60 IDBP partnered with support from the NZ Embassy, Lampung, was the first province to be implemented to carry out a business incubation program. Coaching and mentoring are carried out by mentors chosen from universities or community organizations. The aim is to develop a sustainable market-based biogas sector through capacity building for the 5 existing local biogas development partners to become independent business entities in biogas and bio-slurry related businesses and to meet market demands in Lampung province.
The direct beneficiaries of this program are 50 people (managers, supervisors and masons) from 5 existing biogas development partners who are strong biogas businesses to expand and maintain the biogas sector and bio-slurry-related businesses in Lampung province and 10 new graduates local universities (man and woman) who are business coaches/mentors to help local biogas construction partners as part of the Biogas Business Development Center Team.
