Sport for Good, Feels Good: Sports, Social Action, and the Spirit of Giving

Indonesia has been recognized as one of the most generous countries in the world for seven consecutive years, according to the Charities Aid Foundation. This fact reflects the deep-rooted sense of care Indonesians have for others and their environment — a value nurtured by the long-standing tradition of gotong royong, or mutual cooperation.
Today, this spirit of giving takes many forms: direct sharing, donations, and volunteer work. Interestingly, acts of compassion are becoming increasingly intertwined with active lifestyles — particularly through sports.
Sports are no longer just about fitness or competition. In recent years, we’ve seen the rise of the Sport for Good movement — an approach that merges a love for sports with a social mission. This movement transforms sports into a platform for driving positive change in communities and the environment.
From charity marathons, fundraising tennis matches, mass yoga events, group cycling, to community futsal tournaments — sports activities are now often linked to social campaigns, fundraising efforts, and advocacy for environmental and humanitarian causes. Sports have become more than just physical activity; they are now a form of tangible contribution to social change.
Beyond The Tennis: When a Racket Becomes a Tool for Change

Rumah Energi, in collaboration with Kitabisa, is embracing the Sport for Good spirit through the event “Beyond The Tennis for Environment” — a tennis competition with a social mission, taking place on August 9–10, 2025, at Yogyakarta State University.
In this competition, tennis players will compete while encouraging the public to donate in support of local empowerment, economic development, waste management, and poverty alleviation for farmers and livestock keepers living around the slopes of Mount Merapi and the greater Yogyakarta region.
The competition is open to two categories — beginner and intermediate — with each participant having the opportunity to promote their social cause to the public. Participants will not only play to win, but also to spread messages and inspire change for the environment.
Through sports, we can channel positive energy while creating meaningful impact. We believe that doing good and being active go hand in hand — because combining passion with purpose truly feels good.
Register now and invite your community to join Beyond the Tennis for Environment by visiting ktbs.in/beyondthetennis. Let’s bring the spirit of Sport for Good to life — because big change can start with a single swing of a racket.
