Bekasi, July 24, 2025 – The spirit of empowerment and local creativity echoed once again in Pasirsari Village, Cikarang Pusat District, Bekasi Regency. Komunitas Bambu Kuning (KBK), in collaboration with Rumah Energi and Amazon Web Services (AWS), held a Training on Weaving and Improving the Quality of Water Hyacinth Handicraft Products on Thursday, July 17 and 24, 2025, at the Bambu Kuning Ecotourism site.

The training aimed to equip community members with basic weaving skills and the ability to craft products using dried water hyacinth—a locally abundant, easily processed material with strong economic potential when properly developed.

We even hope KBK products will someday enter the export market,” he said optimistically.

Sahid, one of the co-founders of Komunitas Bambu Kuning, shared his vision for the community to become a central hub for village ecotourism activities. “We hope our crafts become a source of pride for the village and a sustainable source of income for our members,” he expressed.

The weaving sessions were led by Ms. Nia and her team from Nia Craft. To ensure effective learning, participants were divided into two smaller groups, each with a dedicated trainer. They practiced weaving plate mats from water hyacinth. The sessions were interactive and spirited, with many participants quickly mastering the basic techniques and continuing their work at home. These works were then brought back for refinement during the second training session on July 24.
