Women from Energy have an inseparable attachment. In household activities, for example, women have a strategic role in managing energy for daily needs such as cooking. In Central Lombok, women who are members of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) not only play a strategic role in households related to energy matters but also in economic activities. The use of renewable energy in business activities carried out by KWT has a significant impact that not only affects income but also how to work methods that are more effective and environmentally friendly.

Utilizing Solar Power Plants (PLTS) for coffee production houses and Solar Dryer Houses as coffee dryers provides a smart solution for energy needs and more hygienic and environmentally friendly product processing. This also opens significant opportunities for women’s empowerment in various aspects of their lives. With more effective work methods, they can be involved in strategic meetings such as discussion forums in the village and business development seminars.

“Initially we did not understand about renewable energy, but after being given guidance by Rumah Energi, that understanding came. Now we get a lot of benefits from PLTS, solar dryers, and biogas, especially the ease of working and improving the family economy.” Said Verapaty, Member of KWT Kaki Rinjani

“Before it rained, we panicked to lift the coffee that had been dried, now with a solar dryer it is more practical and cleaner, so we can do other activities to increase our income,” said Siti Aisah, a Member of KWT Elong Tune.

Women are important subjects in a just energy transition. Their attachment to energy is an important point that needs to be emphasized, we cannot talk about a just energy transition if we do not see the role of women and communities at the grassroots level. In line with that, Rumah Energi through the Indonesia Berdaya campaign focuses on how renewable energy and sustainable food can be accessed by rural communities, including women who have a strategic role in decision-making and energy management in the household. If the energy transition can start at the grassroots level, it is not impossible that its implementation can be more massive and impactful.
